This episode features a conversation I had with Courtney Douglas. Before we recorded, we were strangers. I was connected with her through Ashley Douglas (because Ashley is THE BEST and so is her husband. JD, who claims he gets producers credits…I will neither confirm or deny that claim). 🙂
Courtney was the second stranger I interviewed for this season and her partner was the first… so… at least we had that in common.
What I walked away from the conversation the most was being able to share space with someone who was mixed race. To give context… what’s it like when the ethnicity boxes don’t align with what you identify with; bi-racial (multiple boxes apply).
A few personal things I did this week leading up to launching this week’s episode. I traveled to Santa Barbara! Check out Twitter or Instagram for some fun pictures of our trip. We’re wrapping up the weekend in Morro Strand with camping right on the beach. Ashley (my partner, not to be mistake as Ashley Douglas who is mentioned multiple times) is grateful the beach is not know to have bears. She has a month to prepare though, we’re camping in Lake Tahoe in mid June. Let the count down to midnight creature interaction begin!
