I’m my best pen pal.

I’m a believer in the power of words.

I believe that the best (and the worst) things we have ever received are words. I’ve been slacking over the last few years, but I sat down and wrote a letter to myself.

Jen, what do you mean you wrote yourself a letter? Glad you asked. For me, writing myself a letter is an opportunity to give a third person view of how I show up in the world. It’s one of the many ways I practice self reflection.

If you want to see where you fail yourself, humanity, and the people you love, write the letter.

More important, if you want to see your purpose and passions….if you want to get a real picture of your goals and why you choose the people, places, and things that surround you (good and bad) write yourself the letter.

Every time I do this, I feel weight lifted that allows me to be open for whatever life has for me next. It’s healing and empowering to see where you came from and where you’re going.

It doesn’t need to make sense when you start. The only rule is direct yourself back to love. Inevitably, if you’re doing some real reflection, some dark parts will show up. Remember this, where you caused pain or screwed up isn’t what defines you. What tells the true story is what you did to follow up that moment.

Whoever and whatever you, be a good one. Much love, y’all.
