Last Friday the first episode EVER on my podcast went live. There is something crazy as surreal about watching a dream or vision inside your head come to life. To say I feel grateful and privileged to have these conversations with some amazing humans is an understatement. I do not take the power of our stories and experiences lightly. Nor do I take for granted the sacredness within them.
This episode features a conversation I had with Eddie Blackwell. A little background, I was connected to Eddie through my friend Ashley Douglas. (Yes, the same Ashley Douglas from the trailer.) Real talk, it never ceases to amaze how interconnected we all are. I often look at how people cross paths and feel complete awe on the perfection in these meetings that, in the moment, feel “random”. I think it’s safe to say, for Eddie and myself, 5 years ago, (hell, even a year ago) we had know idea a mutual friend would connect us and this conversation would be the beginning of Season 1 of Flex This.
Why I want to share this is because Eddie and I are basically strangers. We had a 15 minute convo over the phone to talk about my vision for the podcast, what I hope the listener will receive out of the conversations, and the flow of how we would record. That’s it. We scheduled time and what you hear is an unedited version of two humans sharing space and grappling with life in real time.
I hope these conversations inspire you to look at the strangers you pass by with a little more curiosity. That that curiosity might spark empathy and a genuine desire to want to get to know your brothers and sisters you cross paths with every day.
One of the things I hope is a “light bulb” for you (the listener or reader) is the power of vulnerability. As you listen to these next few episodes, some of these humans have known me for 15 mins and they open their mind and soul for the world to hear. Vulnerability isn’t a weakness, in my eyes, it’s a strength. In knowing what “hurts” you or tugs on your heart strings isn’t easy and it takes courage. Vulnerability and self awareness are dependent on each other. You can’t have one without the other. If you are learning into the gift and struggle of vulnerability and self awareness, thank you. Your journey matters and your inner work will reflect the outer world we see. You might be only one sewed, but it matters. You matter. And I’m so grateful you choose to stay on this path every day.
Whatever you are – be a good one. Happy Sunday, y’all! Stay curious and blessed.
